The Story Behind Foundry Mental Health

Returning from a combat tour in Afghanistan, our founder faced a frustrating reality: finding a therapist he could genuinely relate to felt almost impossible. Standard clinical environments often felt entirely disconnected from the raw, lived experiences of those operating in demanding, dangerous, or high-stakes roles. This trend is especially true for blue collar or rural communities.

Recognizing this profound gap, Foundry Mental Health was established in New Ulm to provide a dedicated space for individuals who don’t fit into the traditional therapy realm. The Foundry was deliberately forged for veterans, first responders, blue-collar workers, farmers, and high-stress professionals—the people who carry heavy, often unseen loads every single day. Our goal is to strip away clinical sterility and offer grounded, practical, and highly relatable support.

Forging a Stronger Path Forward

Our philosophy is built on a fundamental belief: true resilience comes from having the courage to examine what lies beneath the surface. We work with adults from all walks of life, helping them navigate intense stress, trauma, complex life transitions, and the unique weight of PTSD or deployment.

We draw deeply on both clinical training and lived experience to help you do the hard work of rebuilding, finding clarity, and moving forward. You don't have to just "push through" alone.

Our Therapeutic Approach

At The Foundry, therapy is rooted in a deep respect for your individual story. Because no two people carry the same weight or process stress in the exact same way, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing.

Each client’s needs are unique, and our therapists draw from a diverse, adaptable toolbox to meet you exactly where you are. While we utilize a wide variety of strategies to safely investigate your unique stressors and early attachments, some of the core evidence-based techniques we utilize include—but are not limited to:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Exercise-Augmented CBT

  • Motivational Interviewing

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

To ensure we are providing the most effective, dynamic care possible, our team is deeply committed to continuous growth. We are currently working on offering EMDR for trauma and actively expanding our clinical toolkits to integrate advanced modalities like Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP).
